Dressing Room

I'm really not well at the moment I've got a horrendous cold! Its been here for over a week I am so sick of it. I've added a wee hearth and some faux tiles up the side of the dressing room fire surround. I asked JD to cut me out a shape so I could vinyl tile on top of it..roughly 4 inches wide . I added 4 plain black sticky back tiles for  the hearth and cut up a few patterned ones to make my faux sides. Its starting to look like a fireplace :) I so want to get in there and paint out that dark grey background its annoying the life out of me but I am to tired to paint!!! I am not to tired to put out a few crimbo decorations though 😁

We found this wardrobe mirror (to the left of the pic) last year in a second hand shop in Galashiels. I wanted it to be freestanding  as I knew I wouldn't have much wall space with all the telescopic clothes poles so JD put a back on it so I can move it around the floor.. I painted it in my fav new paint I mixed up yesterday Coral/Terracotta? I haven't waxed it yet I will show a better pic of it in the next few days and a better pic of the beautiful marble insert he made at my window.

We had been given this fireplace from JDs Mum. The hearth and back was real marble which we used in the dressing room as a vanity desk but the fire itself was just plastic. I mixed up this colour not sure what it is..Light Coral, Terracotta? I used red paint with some white a wee touch of grey and some yellow. I like it...Im still hating the dark wall though I want to get in there and paint it right out!!! Im going to make a faux hearth this week with some patterned black and white sticky back tiles. Ive still to wax and age the fire surround. This should dull it a wee bit.

This dressing room wasn't all about what I could run out and buy new it was about getting the materials for as cheap as I could, recycling as much as possible and handmaking when possible. Flooring isn't what I would have chose but got it so cheap I couldn't say no, furniture is all revamped, blinds and curtains all made by hand. Knobs, hooks and dÃĐcor all second-hand. The rails I bought new! I wish I hadn't though and just used the ones that I had. I did sell them to put towards the new ones though I did buy a roll of wallpaper which I hated in the end haha and painted over it. Its not finished there are some things I still need to do I will keep you all updated ðŸĪĢ

JD bought me my first second-hand books for my collection on Vintage Fashion he is so thoughtful I had mentioned to him a few weeks back to keep his eyes and ears open for fashion books as I wanted to dress some shelves in the dressing room with them.

I have no designer clothes, bags or shoes but I do have a lot of second-hand stuff  but sadly NO STYLE 😆 but these books are just beautiful and make me WISH I DID!

Duvet Cover Curtain: I bought this duvet cover off amazon last year it was a super king-size and was under a tenner from what I remember this brand its usually around £60 for the quilt cover. Anyway needs must I sewed on some curtain tape to the of the top of the duvet, it still has the buttons on the bottom they act as the weights ðŸĪĢThis room is a work in progress like the rest of the house hahah

When you get it so wrong!!!!

Tomorrow I will be painting this darkness out, I hate it!

I bought this gorgeous stripe super King-size duvet cover last year in the sale. I got it for just a few pounds! I knew there would be a use for it. I sewed some curtain tape along the top edge of the duvet and now I have me a stripe dressing room curtain! Im still decorating this space. :)

My wee dressing room is coming on a treat...I love being in this space with all my girly things. I picked up this gorgeous wardrobe mirror last year. I asked JD to put something on it to make it a floor mirror and as usual he did!!! Im waiting for a second-hand gold curtain to arrive and I cant wait to drape it in here!!

I've actually used one of those curtain tie backs as a tie back 😆 and I still have 2 left best spent £8.00 ever! I've still to wallpaper this wee alcove with sloping ceilings but my minds blank at the moment it will come to me eventually just not today!

This dresser is just so flimsy not one bit of it hanging the right way but I didn't want to bin it .it will do until the right piece of furniture comes along. ..I just gave it a quick re-vamp for my dressing room. I painted the dresser in black and then cut up some sticky back white vinyl and added some stripes. I spray painted some big wood knobs...not everyone's taste but I think it looks much better for my wee space now :)

The other day I posted about picking up 6 curtain tie back for a few pounds. Heres another 1 of them...This one I think is my favourite! I picked up the wee sign and door knob second-hand I also picked up another sign saying flawless lol. This room is going so be so busy with rails floor to ceiling height so I have no walls to pretty it up! .. Ive used the door as a wee pretty area.x

So now all ive got to do is add some wee touches and add in the millions of clothes I have and to still have it look nice! I just wanted to show you the room before. I am knackered its took me a few weeks just to get it to a blank canvas state!

I wanted a centre island in my dressing room. Somewhere to display pretty dishes and maybe a few books and flowers. I painted these 2 pieces I was already using in this room and joined them together and placed them under the ceiling light in the room. I used the green paint that I had leftover from the kitchen and utility room  I added some of the charcoal grey to it that I was using a wee cup of chalk and out came this colour. :) I got my hadnles and door handles all second hand all for under £10.00 so that was fab! I actually bought the door handles 2 years ago nearly at a car booty :)

Yesterday JD and I were busy wee bees. I made a blind from a piece of fabric I got from Vinted and JD made me a beautiful solid marble top for my make up area at the window. I think its put this recess window to great use its such an awkward wee space. The piece of marble came from a fireplace we were given from family. JD used the hearth and we will use the fire in the next room when we get to it. :)

Once I paint a bit more and dress the proom properly I will post some pics :)

I have always loved Geisha. They are just so beautiful. I find everything about them so interesting. When I seen this wallpaper I just had to have it...I think im going to do some panels of wallpaper framed on the sloping walls of my dressing room. Im not exactly sure yet but I need to use it! I was wanting a full wallpapered ceiling in the dressing room but I dont think it would work the ceilings are ultra low in the upstairs of the cottage. (so JD said when I told him I wanted to paper the ceiling!) Now its stuck in my head!

This has got to be my most favourite second hand buy of the year I absolutely 💓 it! I got it for a few pounds. On the bottom it says made for the body shop. :)  This will have pride of place in my new dressing room!

I decided not to paint the chimney breast. I think i was just trying to avoid the boring jobs! Im laying a floor in the soon to  be dressing room!!! JD got me my own wee multi tool and its fab! My backs breaking..im having hot flushes and my knees died about 2 hours ago !!!😭ðŸĪŠðŸ˜
