Chippy style table storage

Ive been sanding this wee box down this morning and I kind of like the base all chippy style or am I just being lazy?
Will I just sand it all off back to the wood?
I stained the top slightly darker ....its an oak piece I think :)
Its just a wee table with storage for the Studio room.
